1. Introduction

Welcome to Waulty ("we", "our", or "us"). Waulty is a warranty and document vault mobile application developed and operated by KarpLabs, a sole-trader software studio .

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Waulty app (iOS and Android) and the website at waulty.karplabs.in (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.

2. What data we collect

Data you provide directly

• Product information you enter (product name, purchase date, warranty expiry date, store name).
• Documents and images you add, such as warranty cards, receipts, and invoices. These files are uploaded to Waulty's app-specific area in your Google Drive only after you grant permission.
• References that connect your saved products with their related media, so the app can show the correct files inside Waulty.
• Email address, if you create an account or contact support.

Data we collect automatically

• Basic crash, diagnostic, and log data to fix bugs and understand app reliability.
• Usage statistics, such as screens visited and feature usage frequency, through PostHog.

What we do NOT collect

• We do not collect your precise location.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not sell your data to third parties.
• We do not use your documents or product data to train machine-learning models.
• We do not store your uploaded images or documents on our own servers; they remain in Waulty's app-specific area in your Google Drive when you enable media upload.
• We do not display advertisements.

3. How we use your data

• Provide the Service — store and display your warranty details and media references.
• Send reminders — push notifications when warranties are about to expire.
• Sync & backup — upload documents to Waulty's app-specific area in your Google Drive via the Google Drive API (see section 4).
• Improve the app — analyse anonymous usage statistics to prioritise features.
• Customer support — respond to your support requests.
• Legal compliance — retain records where required by applicable law.

We do not use your data for any purpose not listed above without your explicit consent.

4. Third-party services

Waulty uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy.

Supabase

Used for user authentication and cloud database. Data is stored on Supabase-managed infrastructure. See the Supabase Privacy Policy.

Google Drive API

If you enable media upload or Google Drive backup, Waulty requests permission to access only its own app-specific configuration and storage area in your Google Drive. Uploaded images and documents are stored in that app-specific Google Drive area, not on Waulty's servers. We store only the references needed to link products with their media in the app. We do not read or manage any other files in your Drive. Waulty can manage only its own app-specific files. PostHog

Used for product analytics, logs, and diagnostics that help us improve reliability and app quality. See the PostHog Privacy Policy.

Expo / React Native

The app is built with Expo and React Native. Expo may collect certain technical telemetry data. See the Expo Privacy Policy.

5. Data retention & deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account inside the app, all user-associated data stored by Waulty is deleted right away, including your account data, saved products, warranty details, reminders, personal details, product/media references, and app-managed Google Drive media.

After successful deletion, Waulty signs you out automatically. You may sign in again later, but deleted Waulty data cannot be restored. To permanently disconnect Waulty from your Google account, remove the app from your official Google Account settings.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
• Erasure — request deletion of your personal data.
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Restriction — request that we restrict processing in certain circumstances.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@karplabs.in. We will respond within 30 days.

CCPA (California residents): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information.

GDPR (EEA residents): Our legal basis for processing your data is performance of contract (to provide the Service you signed up for) and legitimate interests (improving the app). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

7. Children's privacy

Waulty is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at contact@karplabs.in and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS) and encrypted storage. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy here with an updated effective date, and through an in-app notification where possible.

The URL of this page (https://waulty.karplabs.in/privacy-policy) will never change. It is registered with the App Store, Google Play, and Google OAuth. If the site is restructured, this URL will redirect here permanently.
